Well, since you put it that way...

An old friend called today, to comment on the several articles that have been published about our project recently. "Perhaps the trash you've taken from the river is less significant... than the awareness you have brought to it."

His remark made me stop & think. Good friends do that; it is one of the reasons they're good friends.

  1. This is not an exact quote but I believe it was Paul Nordell who told me something like, "Even more important than the trash that is removed from the river is the message that it sends to the community that this behavior won't be tolerated any more, that someone cares about the river"

  2. Thanks for the comment. That sounds like Paul, alright. His encouragement has been a positive influence on many river conservation efforts, including ours.
